# Simple-Align addon

By Chipp Walters

**Free download:** [cw1.me/simple-align](https://cw1.me/simple-align) · Support: [cw1.me/discord](http://cw1.me/discord)

**Version:** 2.0 (beta) · **Blender Version:** 4.5+

The **Simple-Align** addon helps you quickly and precisely **align** and **distribute** objects in Blender. Select your objects, press the Align button, and handles appear right in the 3D Viewport around the active object. Hover to preview, click to apply — no panels to hunt through, no numbers to type.

## Installing

Drag and drop the zip file onto the Blender window (Blender 4.5+).

## Accessing the Addon

1. In Object Mode, select the objects to move, then the reference object **last** — it becomes the active object.
2. Click the **Align** button in the 3D Viewport header, or **Align in Viewport** in the Sidebar (`N`) > **Tool** > **SIMPLE ALIGN** panel.
3. Prefer a shortcut? Assign your own in Preferences > Add-ons > Simple Align (unassigned by default).

## Align 🌟

![][align_mode]

Three rails appear beside the reference object's bounding box: **X (red), Y (green), Z (blue)**.

* Each rail has **min**, **center** and **max** stops — hover a stop to see where the objects will land.
* The **hub** at the box center centers the objects on all three axes at once.
* Click to apply. **Shift+click** applies and keeps the mode open.
* **Esc**, right-click, or a click on empty space cancels. The mode closes after a plain click.

## Distribute

![][distribute_mode]

Press **Tab** (or click **Distribute** in the bottom strip) to switch modes. Click a whole rail to spread the objects along that axis — ticks on the rail show where each one lands.

In the strip, pick the range and the method:

* **Across active** — objects spread over the active object's box.
* **Between ends** — the outermost objects stay put and the rest are spaced between them (the active object counts as one of them).

Methods:

* **Inward** / **Centers** / **Outward** — end objects sit just inside, centered on, or just outside the range; centers evenly spaced.
* **Gaps** — equal empty space between neighbours.
* **Between ends** offers Centers and Gaps; with **Origins** on, only Centers applies.

## The Bottom Strip ⚙️

![][strip]

* **Align / Distribute** — switch modes (or press `Tab`).
* **Range** — Across active / Between ends.
* **Method** — Inward / Centers / Outward / Gaps.
* **Origins** — measure the moved objects by their origins instead of their bounding boxes.
* **Offset** — grow or shrink the active object's box for the calculation; drag an X/Y/Z value left or right to change it.

The mode remembers Align/Distribute, range and method for next time.

## Panels & Buttons

![][panel]

The **SIMPLE ALIGN** panel in Sidebar > **Tool** mirrors the mode: open Align/Distribute directly, toggle Origins, or set a dimension Offset on the reference object's bounding box.

![][header_button]

The header **Align** button starts the mode from anywhere — one click, no sidebar needed.

## Quick Tips

* The **last selected object** is always the **alignment/distribution anchor**.
* Select multiple objects with `Shift+Click`.
* Hover any control for a tooltip.
